This is my story about Freemasonry in Denmark. It is intended both for readers who already know about the subject and for those who would like to have their curiosity satisfied. The aim is to spread knowledge and break down prejudices about Freemasonry. To assist readers who are not already familiar with the subject, a glossary is included in the book.

The first part of the book explains what Freemasonry is, its relationship to the society and religion, its values and some important concepts. The reader is introduced to my path into Freemasonry and my background. Furthermore, some Masonic systems are worth knowing wherefore they are mentioned as well as relevant Masonic organizations in Denmark.

The second part of the book deals with the development of Freemasonry in Denmark with emphasis on the period from 1960 and the following 60 years. A period where important decisions were made and where threads are drawn to the international Masonic community. In the course of the book you get to know a person who was to be of great benefit for the development of Craft Masonry in the Ancient Fraternity organization. Later it turned out that he was not the person who he claimed to be, but was revealed as a fraud with a chequered background. The exposure brought a number of unintended consequences. From being filled with the good values of Freemasonry, there was a sudden realisation of what can happen when people are given power they are incapable of handling.

Many members have asked questions over the years, and even more have a hazy picture of what happened in the period around 2006 and 2007. I myself was in the “eye of the hurricane”. The whole course of events testifies to circumstances which, taken as a whole, are not compatible with Masonic values. Consider this a contribution of insight into a world that contains much good, but which also depends on the people who make it up. In the long run, it may become a question of Growth or decline of the Masonic organizations in Denmark. It is therefore very important which strategy and management methods will be chosen. It is my hope that the book will contribute to and inspire necessary reforms.
